The meet & greet is the official face-to-face meet & greet to make sure that everything is a perfect fit. We will also finalize the necessary paperwork.
*We understand that some pups may be nervous during our first meet & greet which is normal, though sometimes they require an extra meet & greet/trial run to feel more comfortable. Dogs that require a second face-to-face trial run will cost an extra $15*
A pet sitter is a substitute caregiver. When you must be away and you want your pet(s) to be taken care of in a loving manner and in the comfort of their own home/territory, pet sitters provide company and care for your pet(s), and the safety of your home when you’re away for extended periods. There’s little to no risk of your pet escaping under the watchful eye of a sitter. There’s little to no risk of your pet catching a disease or sickness, such as kennel cough in public care services such as boarding/grooming facilities. Sitters remain on-site and are a reliable source to have in case of an emergency.
Here at 9 Tails Pet Care, LLC. Our staff is fully educated and certified in the practice of pet first aid and CPR. Our staff is also pet sitter and dog walker certified, meaning our staff has taken a course detailing the care of pets during house visits, walks, and emergencies, pet behavior, and basic pet health.

Time to Pet is an all-in-one software that allows our clients to request services and make payments directly from the app. Clients also get real-time updates and visit report cards after each visit is completed, can communicate with the sitter through personal chat feed, and can easily update their pet details and routine at any time.
At this time, our focus is primarily pet care in your home. This allows for pets to stay in their home environment and on a familiar schedule during your absence. Our goal is to match your routine and schedule, to the best of our ability, so your pets stay happy and stress-free.
We service Chesapeake, Virginia and it's surrounding areas including Moyock, North Carolina. *certain surrounding areas will incur a $10 travel fee per day*
We require having at least 2 key copies on file with us, one to keep in office as a back up, and one to keep with the sitter assigned to take care of your pets. All keys are kept in a safe and confidential area. We also work with clients to find a solution that they're comfortable with, such as, setting up a lockbox at your home, access through a coded garage door, access through a coded digital door lock, or key check-out with building manager or concierge for apartment buildings.
*clients are responsible for handling key copies. key copies must be exchanged during meet & greet. If client cannot provide 9 tails pet care with key copies, a service fee of $10 will automatically be charged to make key copies.*
If you do not wish for our company to make and have a key copy on file, we will no longer be encouraging clients to leave their original keys “under the mat” or the like, we will not leave and lock the keys in the house on the last visit. NO EXCEPTIONS. For the peace of mind of our sitters and the safety of your pet, in case of an emergency or a situation that comes up where you are not able to care for your pet, our sitters will need access to help out in such cases.
In such cases where we would have to pick up or return the key for each service, a fee will be added.
We do not skip visits between cat clients and we highly recommend dogs have visits every 10-12 hours for health purposes and to abide by our ethics.
The only requirements that we have for dog walking services is that your pet has a properly fitting harness and/or collar, updated ID tags, and a proper fixed-length leash.
We prefer that our clients leave enough pet supplies (food, litter, treats, medications, etc.) over the course of our visit(s)/stays. However, we do not mind purchasing needed products in the event that pets should run out of needed items/necessities. The additional cost of supplies bought by the sitter will be reimbursed.
If you change the location of supplies, inform the sitter. Hidden leashes, insufficient litter, pet food, or even paper towels create hardships and waste of time. Supplies should always be easily accessible.
In such cases of arriving home early or later than expected, please contact us promptly. Failing to do so could result in an extra charge for services that are not needed or in the event of returning home later than expected, we automatically will continue making visits to ensure the health of your pet.
Dogs and Cats will need to have their Rabies up to date as well as currently on flea/tick preventions. Fleas are not fun and can travel from pet to person to different pet. Some of our sitters have pets of their own and we wouldn't want their furry pals getting fleas either!
We are happy to accept clients on a last-minute basis, however, please be aware if you are scheduling visits for the same day or within 24 hours of your first visit with us there will be a $25 service charge. We must conduct a meet & greet before accepting you as a client, this is for your safety and peace of mind as well as ours..
During our meet & greets we allow for plenty of time to go over everything that needs to be covered. We double-check everything and keep everything in an organized manner. We go over your travel dates and times, contact information, and your and your pets’ necessities. By signing to our agreements and waivers, you are also agreeing that all information is correct. If you fail to notify us within the required time frame of any changes (incorrect or moved travel dates, contact information, key and code changes, pet medications/food, etc.) a refund will not be issued. Our company holds that right as we have discussed and made sure everything is clear, correct, and precise. We ask that you respect our time and our efforts.
In unfortunate cases such as natural disasters/inclement weather or an illness, we urge our clients to give a key to a trusted neighbor if a sitter cannot reach your home due to closed roads (flooding, snow, etc.) or a sudden illness.
Due to inclement weather, with your pet’s health and safety in mind, there may be a few times per year when we deem weather conditions too extreme for your pet to walk or have any outside activity. We reserve the right to alter plans as we see fit, be it a cancellation, indoor play, or shortening the visit.
Should the regularly scheduled pet sitter become ill, or an emergency arises, another qualified sitter will fulfill the responsibilities. You will be informed should this occur.
During peak times such as holidays, bookings on holidays require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total amount of your invoice. Once we receive your deposit, your booking is confirmed, and your spot is held. If we do not receive your deposit immediately your spot is not considered confirmed or booked. As a reminder all visits are first come first served.
Full payment for services is due at the beginning of the requested service date(s).
Prices are determined by scheduled dates and the type of service that will be rendered. Cost and service options will be discussed during the initial meet and greet appointment and may be subject to change based on the specific needs of your household and pet(s).
Services totaling $100 or more require a non-refundable security deposit of half of the total amount. Security deposits will be subtracted from the TOTAL for requested services. Security deposits are to be paid immediately to hold and secure your booking dates. If deposits is not paid we cannot guarantee your booking dates.
Cancellations for same day/night or next day/night services will result in a 50% charge(non-refundable security deposit). Cancellations for services that are not same day/night or next day/night but are within one week (7 days) from the point of cancellation will incur a 25% fee and Client will receive a 75% credit. 9 tails pet care company LLC does not provide refunds in the event of a cancellation or service reduction.
$10 Expired Rabies, $25 Holiday Fee(one time), $15 key pick up/return fee, $5 late fee for everyday that payment is considered late. 6% service fee for all credit/debit card transactions
